Supernatural “HAUNT” gets a new distributorMovies/TV,News Michael Gingold
The company that already has HAUNTER on the way has now picked up all U.S. rights to an unrelated chiller called HAUNT.
Screen Daily reports that IFC Films acquired the film for release under its IFC Midnight banner; no dates have yet been set. Originally announced as a Fox title to open this October, HAUNT was directed by Mac Carter from a script by Andrew Barrer. Harrison Gilbertson stars as a teenager who moves with his family into a house with a dark past; when he becomes involved with the girl next door (ERASED’s Liana Liberato), their sexual stirrings awaken a demon dwelling within his home. Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver (seen earlier this year in STOKER) co-stars as a former resident of the house who has suffered a family tragedy. “We are all thrilled that IFC Midnight has acquired U.S. rights,” John Hegeman of QED International and Nick Phillips of Revolver Picture Company, which produced the film with Rivergate Entertainment, tell the trade. “They’re experts in the genre and really know how to build excitement for a terrifying supernatural thriller like HAUNT.”
