See “PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE” with Paul Williams in NYC

The man who scored and starred in one of the great rock ’n’ roll horror films will be making a personal appearance at a revival screening in New York City later this month.

From January 25-27, the Museum of the Moving Image (36-01 35th
Avenue in Astoria, Queens) will be presenting a series devoted to
singer/songwriter/actor Paul Williams, with the man himself present at all but
one of the screenings. Leading off on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. is a showing of
Brian De Palma’s cult classic PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, in which Williams plays
Swan, a Mephistophelean record mogul who betrays songwriter Winslow Leach
(William Finley), and becomes the target of the now scarred-and-helmeted
tunesmith’s revenge. Williams also wrote the songs for PHANTOM, which co-stars
SUSPIRIA’s Jessica Harper and Gerrit Graham as “Beef.” For more on the Williams
series (which also includes the excellent documentary PAUL WILLIAMS: STILL
ALIVE) and ticket information, click on the link above; see PHANTOM’s trailer below and go here to read words from Williams about his coming collaboration with Guillermo del Toro on a PAN’S LABYRINTH musical.
