Season Premiere of “AMERICAN HORROR STORY” Has The Best Title
It’s a matter of changing one letter, but really, nothing sounds better.
The Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk co-created AMERICAN HORROR STORY is one of the best genre shows on TV. The main reason being its complete commitment to lunacy. With each season being its own anthology-esque arc, anticipation (by me) is high for the upcoming witch-related third, subtitled COVEN. Featuring a stellar, women-heavy ensemble including returning stars Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe and newbies like Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe, really the only thing that might make this better is a great season opener.
While we’ve yet to learn if the premiere will blow us away, the title “Bitchcraft” just rules. That’s followed by Episodes two and three, “Boy Parts” and “The Replacements,” respectively.
Additionally, we’ve learned the season will time hop, Sarah Paulson is playing Jessica Lange’s daughter and that some characters are historical in nature. Case in point: Bassett is playing infamous 1800s Voodoo practitioner Marie Laveau, while Bates plays Delphine LaLaurie, a New Orleans-centric socialite and serial killer. While going for a more buoyant tone, the series will also continue playing with its themes of oppression. AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN premieres October 9. [Yahoo, Spoiler TV]
