Savini’s influential Makeup How-to “GRANDE ILLUSIONS” sees re-release

As a guide from one of horror cinema’s makeup greats, GRANDE ILLUSIONS I & II were essential reading. Now, with a new introduction from author Tom Savini, the very well documented-in-Fango makeup man behind DAWN OF THE DEAD, CREEPSHOW, FRIDAY THE 13TH, THE BURNING and more, and forewords from Stephen King, George Romero and Stephen King, GRANDE ILLUSIONS is seeing new life in something of a deluxe re-release.

Per official press release: Special Effects Make-Up Master and horror movie legend, Tom Savini in conjunction with AuthorMike Dark Ink Publishing, is pleased to announce the release of GRANDE ILLUSIONS BOOKS I & II in one book for the first time. Tom’s classic and perennial books on Special Make-Up Effects has inspired generations of filmmakers, such as Peter Jackson; “We went into Braindead with our imaginations sparked by the GRANDE ILLUSIONS book”. Originally released in the early 80’s and 90’s, the books have become a staple for aspiring make-up artists, filmmakers and movie lovers for generations by showing how to do effects through step-by-step techniques, using examples from Tom’s films.

With both books conveniently put into one, along with a new introduction from Tom, fans and filmmakers can now enjoy the ease of having both classic guides in one ultimate edition. Featuring dozens of pictures, illustrations and examples from classic movies such as DAWN OF THE DEAD, FRIDAY THE 13TH, CREEPSHOW, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, MANIAC and many others, readers get to see first hand how Tom created each amazing effect that made him a legend of the craft.

Undoubtedly exciting, hopefully we’ll see these books live on and inspire a new generation of monster makers. GRANDE ILLUSIONS BOOKS I & II are available October 15. For more, visit AuthorMike Dark Ink.
