Italian Genre Maestros unite for anthology “THE BOOK”

Featuring 12 segments from the likes of Lamberto Bava, Sergio Stivaletti, Sergio Martino, Ruggero Deodato, Luigi Cozzi and more, THE BOOK aims to showcase the legacy of Italian genre with new works from its heaviest contributors, as they design a terrifying and fantastic vision of Rome.

Produced by David Bond and Manda Manuel (the filmmakers behind the upcoming anthology of extremities THE PROFANE EXHIBIT) and Sergio Stivaletti, THE BOOK “intends to provide these elite creative forces a platform with which they can showcase the dexterity and innovation which brought them initial acclaim. Free of studio constraints, THE BOOK will be Italian genre at its most raw and basic form, with the impetus placed upon recapturing the magic which resonates with so many fans the world over.”

With a script from Dardano Sacchetti (THE BEYOND, DEMONS, MANHATTAN BABY) and a new score from Goblin and  Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin, THE BOOK’s full roster of directors is as follows:  Lamberto Bava (DEMONS 1&2), Antonio Bido (BLOODSTAINED SHADOW), Enzo G. Castellari (THE HOUSE BY THE EDGE OF THE LAKE), Luigi Cozzi (CONTAMINATION), Alberto De Martino (THE ANTICHRIST), Ruggero Deodato (CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST), Aldo Lado (SHORT NIGHT OF THE GLASS DOLLS), Umberto Lenzi (NIGHTMARE CITY, THE MAN FROM DEEP RIVER), Edoardo Marghertiti (IN THE EYES OF A KILLER), Sergio Martino (TORSO, ALL THE COLOURS OF THE DARK, THE STRANGE VICE OF MRS. WARDH), Sergio Stivaletti (THE THREE FACES OF TERROR) and Tonino Valerii (MY NAME IS NOBODY).

Bond and Manuel have launched an IndieGoGo for THE BOOK, where they’re looking to raise $100,000 in funding. Perks include signed, rare VHS; original posters; an FX workshop with Stivaletti; a DEMONS mask(!) and more.
