Romero, Englund and “THE WALKING DEAD” Set to Stalk 2014 Montreal HorrorFest
The Montreal HorrorFest is back for its third year with films, programming and guests geared toward the genre. The Guest of Honour for this component of the Montreal ComicCon is none other than the “Grandfather of the Zombie”, George A. Romero, the man who defined the parameters of what good ghoul cinema could be. Other guests announced today include cast members from AMC’s monster hit television series THE WALKING DEAD, which include Emily Kinney, best known as loving daughter and sister Beth Greene, as well as Lawrence Gilliard Jr., who plays Bob Stookey, one of the most recent additions to the amazing cast.
They join previously announced Denise Crosby (as part of the STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION reunion), who plays the benevolent and mysterious Mary in the most recent season and the upcoming fifth installment of TWD. Crosby of course also has creepy clout in another quasi-zombie feature, that of Mary Lambert’s adaptation of PET SEMATARY. Continuing our theme on everything zombie is the star of Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978), none other than Ken Foree (THE DEVIL’S REJECTS).
Also on board is A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET’s Robert Englund, as well as Amanda Wyss, Freddy’s first on-screen victim. Danny Glover, known for his roles in LETHAL WEAPON, PREDATOR 2 and SAW will be on hand. And fans will be thrilled to meet Julie Benz, who came to our collective attention as the vampire Darla, in both BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL, and currently carries the veil of one of the most shocking deaths in television history on Showtime’s award winning series, DEXTER.
HorrorFest also has a film festival component and will be accepting film submissions until July 20th, 2014. In 2013, the film festival screened 25 feature films and 31 shorts. For details on how to submit a film, head here.
The Montreal ComiCcon runs from Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14, 2014. Tickets will include single day, three-day and special Deluxe and VIP packages, priced from $20.00 to $195.00 and can be purchased here.
