As if the RESIDENT EVIL video-game series didn’t immerse you enough in terrifying zombie action, now you’ll truly be able to live it as its themed haunted house completes the lineup at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 23.
The theme park’s entertainment team has joined forces with the creators at Capcom to construct RESIDENT EVIL: Escape from Raccoon City, a haunt that sends visitors into the midst of the virus-riddled metropolis, where zombies, Lickers, Cerberuses and the Nemesis run amok. Completing the feeling of being inside the game, one room will feature the action being “paused,” as if the gamer has taken a break. “It’s such a great delight to work with Universal on a haunted house based on the RESIDENT EVIL games,” says Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, producer of RESIDENT EVIL 6. “The games have become synonymous with survival horror and we look forward to delivering a new way for consumers to experience the RESIDENT EVIL world we have created in the haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights.”
Adds Halloween Horror Nights creative director Michael Aiello, “RESIDENT EVIL is a perfect final addition to Halloween Horror Nights 23. We were able to create incredibly elaborate sets that plant you right in the midst of Raccoon City’s apocalyptic nightmare, along with terrifying adversaries that will send them running.”
Other movie- and TV-themed attractions set to scare guests include THE WALKING DEAD: No Safe Haven as well as an Undead Streets experience that brings the walkers outside the houses, and haunts based on EVIL DEAD, THE CABIN IN THE WOODS and AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, as well as Urban Legends: La Llorona, Afterlife: Death’s Vengeance and Havoc2: Derailed.
