Release Date Shuffle: “CABIN FEVER” Remake, Bernard Rose’s “FRANKENSTEIN”, More…

,

2016 is aiming to be a very exciting year for the horror genre. With exciting movies, HD releases, terrifying television, and festival favorites from 2015, there are more than a few reasons for fright fans to keep their eyes on the calendar. And with all of the demented developments happening this week, FANGORIA has the latest on what wicked entertainment will be coming to a screen near you.

First up is the latest film from CANDYMAN director Bernard Rose with his modern adaptation of Mary Shelley’s FRANKENSTEIN. Starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Danny Huston, Xavier Samuel and Tony Todd, this terrifying title was recently acquired by Alchemy, who aim to release the film direct to DVD and Blu-ray on February 23rd. Festival buzz has been big on this macabre movie after playing at Lincoln Center’s most recent Scary Movies series, so stay tuned for more on the film as we get closer to its release.

Also hitting this February is IFC Midnight’s upcoming remake of Eli Roth’s CABIN FEVER. Directed by Travis Zariwny, this film served as one of the more controversial announcements of the horror genre in 2015 despite Roth’s attachment as producer and co-writer. Nevertheless, CABIN FEVER (2016) was quickly acquired and seems to be hitting sooner rather than later with a date of February 12th locked in for a VOD and limited theatrical release.

Last but not least in today’s release news are a pair of premiere dates for A&E’s small-screen horror properties. The networks biggest genre series, BATES MOTEL, will be returning to the air for it’s fourth, penultimate season on March 7th, 2015. Meanwhile the small screen reboot of THE OMEN franchise entitled DAMIEN will begin its first season immediately afterwards on the same date. Stay tuned for more coverage on these titles here at FANGORIA.com!
