Reboot the Remakes: New “THE GRUDGE” Film Happening Stateside, As Well

It’s been a decade since Takashi Shimizu helmed an English language adaptation of his JU-ON. In Hollywood years, that’s a proper cycle. So as Japan readies its own new addition to the series, Ghost House Pictures’ Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are developing a U.S. revamp as well.

Deadline reports MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN’s Jeff Buhler will pen a “reboot” of THE GRUDGE. No details are available on what exactly the film will be. The term reboot gives the impression of a do-over, but it’s unclear whether the 2004 film or its sequel and their chronology will play a part.

The aforementioned other new GRUDGE film, JU-ON: BEGINNING OF THE END (OWARI NO HAJIMARI) is expected in Japanese cinemas this June.
