“POLTERGEIST” Remake to Haunt 2 Months Earlier

While FANGORIA fans are divided on the upcoming POLTERGEIST remake from director Gil Kenan and producer Sam Raimi, those of us who were impressed by the trailer (or will be seeing the film out of sheer curiosity) will have the chance to see it much earlier than expected. While the film had been geared as a major July release, 20th Century Fox has announced that POLTERGEIST will open on May 22nd, a full two months before it’s original release date.

Even though release date shifts are rarely an apparent vote of confidence, Fox certainly believes in POLTERGEIST to move it forward by that much, while also allowing for other shifts on film’s Fox has yet to market. By moving POLTERGEIST to May, not only is the film opening in a little more than 2 months, but also within 2 weeks of Focus Features’ INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3, which has proven itself twice in different frames of the year. And with INSIDIOUS’ marketing already at full speed, one would assume they might stand fast at their June release date and take POLTERGEIST head on. Keep an eye out here at FANGORIA.com for more on both films, and you can check out the trailer and stills from POLTERGEIST at the links above.
