Philly! Six Movie Sleepover this Friday the 13th includes old favorites and top indies

BURNINGBLURAYREVFEAT

Philadelphia-based The Awesome Fest is living the dream. As in, it’s directors and organizers are capping off summer with a six film all nighter this Friday the 13th, and planning summer camp activities and encouraging BYOB and tents to boot.

Featuring three beloved camp-centric slashers and three of this year’s most acclaimed horror indies, the Friday the 13th Summer Camp Sleepover sounds magnificent. The Awesome Fest is taking over Adventureland Day Camp in Bensalem, PA and offering “fishing, rock-climbing, campfires, food trucks, horror themed vendors, marshmallow roasts, scary stories,” and more.

Beginning at 4 p.m., The Summer Camp Sleepover is screening FRIDAY THE 13TH, THE BURNING and SLEEPAWAY CAMP, as well as fantastic microbudget zombie picture THE BATTERY(our review), Chad Kinkle’s strange feature JUG FACE (our review) and the long-awaited ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE (which has its own camp vibe going on!)

“I firmly believe this is one of the most exciting events we’ve ever created” said Founder/Artistic Director Josh Goldbloom. “I spent the majority of my youth watching every horror film I could get my hands on well into the early morning. Now I get to do this in the woods at a summer camp, with hundreds of people that share my enthusiasm for the genre. I’m beyond excited!”

“When Josh said ‘How about an overnight at a summer camp…,’ that was all we needed”, states programmer, FearNET writer and general man about horror Scott Weinberg. “It went from an all Friday the 13th festival to an all-retro-fest to a retro-fest combined with three or four new horror films that we really like. If you’re planning an all-night six-movie horror film mini-festival, you should try to get something old and something new. And a cool location. And great people. At night. Outside.”

Tickets for the event are $23 and are on sale now. They can be purchased via Ticketfly through The Awesome Fest.
