CRONENBERGBURLESQUEFEAT

There’s a lot of celebrating of David Cronenberg going on this season, from TIFF’s multiplatform Cronenberg Project to our own special magazine, and one of the most unusual takes place in Philadelphia this weekend: David Cronenberg Burlesque!

Part of Miss Rose’s Sexploitation Follies series, the live show will go on Saturday, October 19 at PhilaMOCA (531 N. 12th Street); doors open at 8 p.m. and the performance begins at 9. The details: “Hosting the evening of twisted tease is Philadelphia’s favorite ventriloquist Professor David Deneen. The show features performances spanning Cronenberg’s entire career, from Hayley Jane’s portrayal of THE BROOD to a fully nude stage fight for EASTERN PROMISES to Minx Arcana’s fine and frightening rendition of THE FLY to Miss Rose’s truly NAKED LUNCH as well as a VIDEODROME number that’s sure to leave the viewer yearning for the New Flesh.”

Tickets are $12 in advance (order ’em here), $15 at the door. Miss Rose’s Sexploitation Follies, held the third Saturday of every other month, homages a different filmmaker each time; upcoming are burlesques devoted to Stanley Kubrick (December), John Hughes (February), Pedro Almodóvar (April) and Mel Brooks (June)!
