“PASSION” Poster: Backstabbing is Business

PassionFeat

Brian De Palma’s long-awaited stylish, sultry new thriller PASSION is creeping up this summer.

Just as summer gets hottest, we’ll finally get a new twisty tale from the master. The legendary De Palma is up to many of his old tricks in PASSION, which I had a great time with at last fall’s New York Film Festival. It’s a film about having the upper hand in a working relationship-turned-something sinister (and psychosexual). PASSION stars “Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace as two rising female executives in a multinational corporation whose fierce competition to rise up the ranks is about to turn literally cut-throat.”

eOne releases the film August 1 On Demand and August 31 in limited theatrical release. Find the poster (courtesy of Film.com) and early teaser below. Keep an eye on Fango for much more.

I quite liked this De Palma film. Not one of his best, but not one of his worst either. It helps a lot that Donaggio is back. Too bad De Palma once again rips off a famous moment from Tenebrae, just like in Raising Cain, but originality was never his strength anyway. I’d recommend it to De Palma’s biggest fans, there’s certainly some joy to be found here.
