Official One Sheet: Spike Lee’s OLDBOYMovies/TV,News Samuel Zimmerman
A trunk in a meadow. Josh Brolin emerges. The official poster from Spike Lee’s OLDBOY is both reminiscent of Park Chan-wook’s original and serves as the first look, using a proper shot from the film.
Directed by Spike Lee (DO THE RIGHT THING, INSIDE MAN), 2013’s OLDBOY is “the story of an advertising executive (Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.”
Lee, one of our great filmmakers excels just as much in a more provocative, independent and biting manner as he does when crafting a more pulpy tale such as INSIDE MAN. As you probably know, the Korean OLDBOY hosts a healthy mix of the two, going to shocking places in its ultimate reveal. Will Lee push that far? His vision of OLDBOY, co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, is out October 25, 2013.
