“OCULUS” creators to plunge into “DIVER”Movies/TV,News Michael Gingold
With the standout supernatural thriller OCULUS (pictured, and reviewed here) making its U.S. premiere tomorrow at SXSW, its writer/director and producer have revealed their latest frightful project.
Deadline reports that writer/director Mike Flanagan, co-writer Jeff Howard and producer Trevor Macy will reteam on a horror film called DIVER that begins rolling this summer. Based on an original script by Diane Ademu-John and Carter Blanchard that Flanagan and Howard will rewrite, DIVER is set in New Orleans and focuses on a secret squad of psychics who plumb the minds of the recently dead to use their last memories to solve crimes. In doing so, they bring down the barrier between the living and the dead and release a supernatural force. Other producers on the film include Marc D. Evans, Asha Kurian and Julie Wilke. OCULUS opens theatrically April 11 from Relativity Media; look for a feature interview with Flanagan in Fango #332, on sale early next month.
