NY! Hudson Horror Show brings “BLOOD BEACH” and more to Alamo Drafthouse in March

Following a sellout first collaboration last year, the gang behind the Hudson Horror Show and the New York-area Alamo Drafthouse Cinema are reteaming for a triple feature of vintage horror flicks in 35mm next month, including a true rarity.

On Saturday, March 14 starting at 6 p.m., Hudson Horror will present March Madness at the Alamo Drafthouse Yonkers, just north of Manhattan (2548 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY). The craziness leads off with Bill Rebane’s THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION, the alien-arachnid flick notorious for constructing its monstrous menaces out of Volkswagen Beetles. Then comes Jeffrey Bloom’s BLOOD BEACH, about a mysterious creature sucking hapless Californians into the sand, starring John Saxon and Burt Young; this rarely screened cult favorite from the VHS era is currently unavailable on any U.S. disc format. Rounding things out is SLEEPAWAY CAMP, Robert Hiltzik’s grisly summer-slasher flick. As usual with Hudson Horror fests, there will also be trailer reels, trivia contests/giveaways and vendors selling genre merchandise. Tickets are just $15 for the whole show, and can be purchased at its Drafthouse page.
