NY! Fango’s Michael Gingold to host monthly Graveyard Shift screenings at Alamo DrafthouseMovies/TV,News Fangoria Staff 2 Comments
The Alamo Drafthouse theater chain has been offering Graveyard Shift genre screenings at its various venues for some time, and now FANGORIA’s Michael Gingold is teaming with the New York-area Drafthouse to present monthly showings of classic fright fare on the big screen.
Gingold and the staff of the Alamo Drafthouse Yonkers, just north of Manhattan (2548 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY), will be selecting top terror titles to be shown on the last Friday of each month, with Gingold hosting. Leading off on January 24 at 10:30 p.m. will be a 35mm presentation of Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg’s supernatural smash POLTERGEIST; advance tickets can be ordered here. “We’re looking to show movies that truly benefit from the big-screen experience, for their cinematic scope or the collective chill they cast over the audience,” Gingold says. “POLTERGEIST, with its combination of spectacular special effects and deep-seated terror, is the perfect film with which to launch FANGORIA’s partnership in the Graveyard Shift series at the New York Drafthouse.” Following that will be Wes Craven’s original THE HILLS HAVE EYES on February 28 and John McNaughton’s HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER on March 28. Keep an eye on the theater’s official site for updates.
