NY! Catch “THE BLOB” remake in 35mm at Alamo Drafthouse this month, with Fango’s Michael Gingold!

A superior, slimy, spectacular but often unsung horror remake is getting a big-screen showcase as this month’s FANGORIA-hosted presentation at the New York-area Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

On Friday, December 19 at 10 p.m., the Alamo Drafthouse Yonkers, just north of Manhattan (2548 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY), will present a 35mm print of the 1988 update of THE BLOB, introduced by Fango’s Michael Gingold. Based on the 1958 creature-feature classic starring Steve McQueen, this BLOB was directed by A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3’s Chuck Russell from a script he wrote with THE WALKING DEAD’s Frank Darabont, and stars Kevin Dillon, the SAW films’ Shawnee Smith, Donovan Leitch, WALKING DEAD’s Jeffrey DeMunn, Q’s Candy Clark and ROBOCOP’s Paul McCrane as small-town denizens terrorized by a carnivorous, gelatinous menace from outer space. Come check out this high-powered, horrifying monster movie on the big screen! For more info on the screening and to order tickets, click here. Gingold will also host the Drafthouse’s Vinegar Syndrome Presents showing of the killer-Santa fave CHRISTMAS EVIL this Friday, December 5 at 8 p.m., for which you can get tickets here, and the same day, Jennifer Kent’s acclaimed THE BABADOOK begins a regular run at the Drafthouse as well (details here).
