Nicolas Cage getting ready to “PAY THE GHOST,” from Lebbon storyMovies/TV,News Michael Gingold
Nicolas Cage seems to have a new movie coming out every other month these days, and his latest project, just announced at the Cannes Film Festival, returns him to the supernatural side.
Variety reports that Cage will star in PAY THE GHOST for Voltage Films and director Uli Edel (LAST EXIT TO BROOKLYN, the upcoming HOUDINI miniseries). The actor will play a New York University English professor whose 8-year-old son disappears during a Halloween parade; a key female role will be cast soon, with production targeting a late-summer start date. TIMBER FALLS’ Dan Kay wrote the script, based on the short story by acclaimed genre novelist Tim Lebbon that first appeared in Cemetery Dance’s OCTOBER DREAMS anthology (and which the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake’s Dennis Iliadis was originally attached to helm); Voltage’s Nicolas Chartier and Craig Flores are producing with Ian Levy of Midnight Kitchen Productions.
