New York Comic Con 2016: Actor John C. McGinley on “STAN AGAINST EVIL”

,

Despite likely being best known for his stellar comedic acting as well as roles in films such as PLATOON, POINT BREAK, and THE ROCK, actor John C. McGinley is no stranger to the horror genre. Whether it’s coming face-to-face with a living skeleton in SE7EN, hunting Ice-T in SURVIVING THE GAME, playing a distraught father in IDENTITY, or his upcoming role in THE BELKO EXPERIMENT, McGinley has proven himself adept at filling in a multitude of roles in many cinematic nightmares. Yet McGinley’s experience with comedy, drama, action, and horror will come in handy for his latest role, the titular character from STAN AGAINST EVIL, the new IFC series from THE SIMPSONS alumni Dana Gould. Luckily, FANGORIA was on the scene at New York Comic Con 2016, where McGinley shared a surprisingly candid and emotional insight into his experiences with and surrounding STAN AGAINST EVIL…

For those unfamiliar, here’s the official synopsis for STAN AGAINST EVIL…

STAN AGAINST EVIL follows Stan Miller (McGinley), a perpetually disgruntled former sheriff of a small New England town who was forced into retirement.  Stan has trouble relinquishing his authority to Evie Barret (Varney), the tough and beautiful new sheriff in town, but they form an unlikely alliance when both begin to realize things are not quite right in their quaint New England town.  Together, they valiantly fight a plague of unleashed demons that have been haunting the town, which just happens to be built on the site of a massive 17th century witch burning.

STAN AGAINST EVIL, starring John C. McGinley, kicks off on Wednesday, November 2nd, at 10:00 p.m. on IFC. Stay tuned for more on New York Comic Con and STAN AGAINST EVIL here at FANGORIA.com!
