New York City Horror Film Festival Winners Announced!Movies/TV,News Ken W. Hanley
Last weekend, Times Scare hosted dozens upon dozens of excited fright fans at the 14th Annual New York City Horror Film Festival. And while horror icons such as FRIDAY THE 13TH director Sean Cunningham and HALLOWEEN 3 actor Tom Atkins received honorary awards from the festival, the festival formally announced its various cinematic winners late Sunday night, with the grand prize going to Levan Bakhia’s LANDMINE GOES CLICK.
That’s right: the disturbing revenge film took home the Best Feature award ahead of its VOD debut this Friday, also garnering a Best Actor award for star Sterling Knight. Meanwhile, Best Short went to Stephen Martin’s DEAD HEARTS (which FANGO previewed HERE), while the Audience Choice award went to Ollie Murray’s A STRANGER KIND. The Best Actress award went to Akasha Villalobos for her powerhouse performance in the subversive slasher meditation LAST GIRL STANDING (check back for our review tomorrow), while the ghost story INTERIOR took home the awards for Best Director (for helmer Zachary Beckler) as well as Best Sound Design. Meanwhile, Jaron Henrie-McCrea’s CURTAIN won for Best Sci-Fi Feature, Pavel Khvallev’s III snagged the Best Cinematography award and Best FX unsurprisingly went to Bobbin Ramsey’s DEAD BOY (which FANGO reviewed HERE).
