New poster for multi-award-winning Aussie horror “SCARE CAMPAIGN”Movies/TV,News Michael Gingold
The gory shocker SCARE CAMPAIGN cleaned up in the awards handed out over the weekend at Melbourne, Australia’s Monster Fest, and a new poster has been released to celebrate.
SCARE CAMPAIGN, the new film from 100 BLOODY ACRES writer/directors Colin and Cameron Cairnes (who discussed it here), picked up Best Film, Best Direction, Best Feature Screenplay and Best Sound in a Feature prizes at Monster Fest. “Having a hometown world premiere is very special,” Colin says, “but it’s particularly satisfying when the film plays to a room full of people as passionate and discerning as the Monster Fest audience. The gasps, sighs and laughs all seemed to come in the right places, and it was a powerful reminder of why we got into this filmmaking caper in the first place—to thrill an audience!”
Adds producer Julie Ryan, “It’s particularly satisfying to have confirmation that our target audience loves the film. We’re thrilled to have received these awards, especially as it’s our first public screening, and we look forward to premiering the film internationally and showing it to more horror film fans around Australia in 2016.”
SCARE CAMPAIGN stars Meegan Warner, THE VISIT’s Olivia DeJonge, Ian Meadows, Josh Quong Tart, SNAP-SHOT/THE DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN’s Sigrid Thornton, WOLF CREEK’s Cassandra Magrath and THE LOVED ONES’ John Brumpton. The synopsis: “Popular TV prank show SCARE CAMPAIGN has been entertaining audiences for the last five years with its mix of old-school scares and hidden-camera fun. But as we enter a new age of on-line TV, the producers find themselves up against a hard-edged web series which makes their show look decidedly quaint. It’s time to up the ante, but will the team go too far this time, and are they about to prank the wrong guy?”
