New Images: Eli Roth’s “THE GREEN INFERNO”
In just a month, Eli Roth unleashes his first feature as director in six years. Coupled with it being a seeming reinvention of the one of the last still-dangerous subgenres, Italian Cannibal films, THE GREEN INFERNO comes with a great deal of anticipation. As the Toronto International Film Festival approaches, we finally have some new looks to accompany that unsettling lone image.
THE GREEN INFERNO, making its world premiere in the Midnight Madness section of TIFF, follows an idealistic student and a group of naive do-gooders who are captured by cannibalistic Indios after their plane crash lands in the Peruvian jungle. Don’t expect a simple homage however, as Roth previously told Fango, “Nobody has any idea what I’m doing with GREEN INFERNO. It’s not going to be a Mondo cannibal film.”
Expect more on THE GREEN INFERNO in the weeks to come. [TIFF]
