Monster Anticipation: Kaiju clean-up in “PACIFIC RIM,” “GODZILLA” starts production
Legendary Pictures is bringing out the big guys, with Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming giant monsters vs. giant robots opus PACIFIC RIM, as well as Gareth Edwards’ new take on original gangster GODZILLA hitting this year and next. Both films received a bit of excitement-building viral content, as PACIFIC RIM continued its look at the major impact of an attack and director Edwards greeted fans from the first day of production.
Images from the upcoming PACIFIC RIM have been exploring the world it inhabits, in which kaiju have risen from the sea and threaten humanity with each step. A new pic (below) reveals the man power it takes to fix up a site after creature disaster strikes.
Meanwhile, GODZILLA has gotten underway. Starring Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston and Juliette Binoche, Gareth Edwards (MONSTERS) took to YouTube (above) and welcomed viewers to the set, while naturally confessing he can’t divulge much.
PACIFIC RIM is out July 12, 2013, while GODZILLA is slated for May 16, 2014.
