Meet masters of horror scoring at LA Fans of Film Music eventBooks/Art/Culture,Movies/TV,News Michael Gingold
If you’re in the Los Angeles area and love the music and composers of horror cinema, you won’t want to miss a very special celebration taking place later this month.
The fourth annual Fans of Film Music Society gathering will be held Sunday, October 20 in LA, in honor of the 35th anniversary of Varèse Sarabande, the label that has made countless horror and other genre scores available on records and CDs (Robert Townson, who has produced over 1,200 of its soundtrack albums, and flutist Sara Andon, who is performing at VS concerts around the world this year, will attend). Produced by Peter Hackman and moderated by Richard Kraft and Daniel Schweiger, the event will offer panel discussions and autograph signings with the likes of Joseph LoDuca (the EVIL DEAD trilogy, CURSE OF CHUCKY), Nathan Barr (the HOSTEL films, TRUE BLOOD), Harry Manfredini (the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise, the HOUSE movies), Christophe Beck (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, ANGEL), Reinhold Heil (LAND OF THE DEAD, I, FRANKENSTEIN), Cliff Martinez (CONTAGION, ONLY GOD FORGIVES) and many others.
To RSVP, e-mail Hackman at firstname.lastname@example.org; there’s a small fee to help with overhead costs, which also includes entry to a private party at the home of legendary composer Christopher Young (HELLRAISER, DRAG ME TO HELL, SINISTER, etc.) on Friday, October 18. Hurry, because it’ll sell out soon! For more info, see Fans of Film Music’s official website.
