Martin Sheen to star in “TROLL HUNTER” director’s latest

The maker of one of the best modern monster movies switches gears to psychological terror in his new film, THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, and has cast a screen veteran as its lead.

Screen Daily reports that Martin Sheen will star in the latest from TROLL HUNTER director Andre Øvredal, which is set to shoot this summer in London. THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE was scripted by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing, and Sheen will play Tommy, a small-town mortician looking into the case of a beautiful young homicide victim of indeterminate identity with no apparent cause of death. “Being a lifelong fan of Martin Sheen, I am honored and thrilled to get the opportunity to work with him,” Øvredal tells the trade. “He also perfectly embodies everything I want his character in the movie to be, so this is a dream come true for me. I intend to make THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE a movie that will thrill, scare and delight the widest possible audience.” Sheen’s past genre credits include THE BELIEVERS, FIRESTARTER, THE LITTLE GIRL WHO LIVES DOWN THE LANE, SPAWN and, most memorably, David Cronenberg’s THE DEAD ZONE.
