Mark Frost to Bridge “TWIN PEAKS” Seasons with “SECRET LIVES” NovelNews Samuel Zimmerman
As scores of viewers await the newly announced revival of TWIN PEAKS, another aspect of the series is making its return, the tie-in book.
TWIN PEAKS co-creator Mark Frost, who’ll be co-writing and producing the upcoming season alongside David Lynch, is writing THE SECRET LIVES OF TWIN PEAKS for release by Flatiron Books in late 2015. The novel aims to catch PEAKS admirers up with the cast of characters that populate the northwestern town of much intrigue since the series ended in 1991 (or since 1989, as the show took place in).
In addition to his television and film work, Frost is a longtime author, penning the likes of THE LIST OF SEVEN and BEFORE I WAKE. Similarly, PEAKS has a history of being extended into prose, with Jennifer Lynch’s THE SECRET DIARY OF LAURA PALMER; TWIN PEAKS: AN ACCESS GUIDE TO THE TOWN; THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF F.B.I. SPECIAL AGENT DALE COOPER; MY LIFE, MY TAPES (written by Mark Frost’s brother, Scott Frost); and audio book DIANE…– THE TWIN PEAKS TAPES OF AGENT COOPER, also written by Scott Frost.
“Bob Miller and I have enjoyed a fantastic fifteen year relationship in publishing. This has long been a dream project of mine that will bring a whole other aspect of the world of Twin Peaks to life, for old fans and new. I couldn’t be more thrilled,” said Frost.
TWIN PEAKS returns in 2016 on Showtime in the form of a nine-episode third season, to be helmed by David Lynch.
