Make A Date: “THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2,” “SCOUTS VS. ZOMBIES” MoveNews Samuel Zimmerman
Two upcoming 2015 genre titles have shuffled dates, one bumped up, the other a bit back.
Upcoming period-set sequel THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2, produced by Hammer and being released stateside by Relativity, has moved off of its previous late January date and settled into the spot recently vacated by AMITYVILLE, January 2, 2015. The Tom Harper-helmed film takes place midst WWII where “a group of London school children are evacuated with Eve, their young and beautiful schoolteacher, to the safety of the English countryside. Taken to an old and empty estate, cut-off by a causeway from the mainland, they are left at Eel Marsh House. One by one the children begin acting strangely and Eve, with the help of local military commander Harry, discovers that the group has awoken a dark force even more terrifying and evil than the city’s air raids. Eve must now confront her own demons to save the children and escape the wrath of The Woman in Black.”
Meanwhile, Paramount’s upcoming, bluntly titled SCOUTS VS. ZOMBIES has left its February spot, for a perhaps more appropriate Halloween release on October 30, 2015. That film stars Tye Sheridan, of JOE and MUD and sees, well, a bunch of boy scouts take on a zombie outbreak. Christopher Landon (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES) directs.
