Make a Date: Kevin Smith’s “TUSK” Out in September; “JESSABELLE” Moved to NovemberNews Samuel Zimmerman
One date announced, one date switched for two upcoming wide release genre films: Kevin Smith’s body horror TUSK, and the Blumhouse-produced, Southern-set JESSABELLE.
A24 revealed via teaser image that TUSK will arrive in theaters September 19, 2014. The film, from CLERKS director Smith, stars Justin Long as a podcaster who investigates an ad from a mysterious older man, played by Michael Parks. The latter looks damned dapper in the announcement still, and as per usual, will likely give a stellar performance.
JESSABELLE meanwhile is the upcoming film from Kevin Greutert (the underrated SAW VI). Originally set for the end of August (which now frees you up to see THE STRANGE COLOR OF YOUR BODY’S TEARS), Lionsgate has shifted the film to a November 7th release date where it will play limited theaters and debut on VOD. Produced under Blumhouse, the film sees title character “return to her childhood home in Louisiana to recuperate from a horrific car accident. There, she comes face to face with a long-tormented spirit that has been seeking her return — and has no intention of letting her escape.” Find the trailer, below.
