LA: Etheria Film Night Celebrates Women in Genre; Features North American Premiere of “SOULMATE” & MoreNews Fangoria Staff
The 2014 Etheria Film Night (co-sponsored by American Cinematheque) is headed to the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood this Saturday, July 12th. Created to showcase the talents of emerging female directors, the one-night event will feature the North American premiere of writer/director Axelle Carolyn’s feature film SOULMATE, as well as the debut of a series of shorts (including Rose McGowan’s DAWN) following the film.
PUNISHER: WAR ZONE and GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS director Lexi Alexander will also be appearing to receive the 2014 Etheria Inspiration Award for her work in the action and sci-fi genres. Closing the evening’s festivities will be a cocktail reception and red carpet event sponsored by Monstrosity Films, Walker/Fitzgibbon, Birns & Sawyer, and co-presented by Ms. in the Biz.
The SOULMATEpremiere will be followed by a Q&A with director Carolyn, moderated by Fango’s own Rebekah McKendry. The shorts showcase will feature a Q&A conducted by Brea Grant (DEXTER, BEST FRIENDS FOREVER) with directors Rebecca Thomson (THE JELLY WRESTLER) Sarah Doyle (YOU ME & HER), Gigi Saul Guerrero (DIA DE LOS MUERTOS) and Rose McGowan.
