The ALMOST HUMAN team returns with THE MIND’S EYE, which has been blowing away fest audiences and has just been announced for North American release.
RLJ Entertainment has revealed that it acquired the rights to THE MIND’S EYE, with theatrical and VOD play set for a date to be determined later this year. After world-premiering at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival, the movie nabbed the Best Director, Horror Feature award at last year’s Fantastic Fest. ALMOST HUMAN star Graham Skipper returns for this homage to David Cronenberg and other science shockers, joined by DARLING’s Lauren Ashley Carter and John Speredakos, SOME KIND OF HATE’s Noah Segan, Glass Eye Pix’s Larry Fessenden and THE BATTERY creator Jeremy Gardner; Brian Spears and Pete Gerner created the copious and grisly makeup FX. The synopsis: “When Zack [Skipper] and Rachel [Carter], who both have telekinetic powers, are discovered by Dr. Slovak [Speredakos], they think they have found someone who wants to help them. But they soon learn that Dr. Slovak’s real intentions are to drain their abilities from them so he can use them for himself. Now, they must work together to stop this madman from achieving his goals.”
“Joe has an amazing eye and a clear love of old-school genre films,” says RLJ’s Mark Ward. “His first feature had a cult following, and we are excited to share his new vision of horror with audiences.” We’ll keep you posted on a debut date; see our MIND’S EYE review here and first coverage here.
