First Image: Bathtime for “JESSABELLE”

Are people taking more baths these days? I only ask because it looks like horror films are back to exploiting our tub vulnerabilities. See: Canadian indie THE DROWNSMAN and this, the first image for JESSABELLE, from director Kevin Greutert (SAW VI).

Hitting this summer from Lionsgate, JESSABELLE sees its title character return to her childhood home in Louisiana to recuperate from a horrific car accident. There, she comes face to face with a long-tormented spirit that has been seeking her return — and has no intention of letting her escape.

JESSABELLE stars Sarah Snook and SCOTT PILGRIM’s Mark Webber (currently seen in 13 SINS). The film is also a seemingly rare straight ahead horror story from writer Robert Ben Garant, writing partner of Thomas Lennon. Together, the two created RENO! 911 and penned a host of comedies like HELL BABY and more family-oriented fare like NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM.

JESSABELLE is in theaters August 29, 2014. Expect a trailer to debut Thursday, April 24. [Yahoo!]
