It takes all kinds of extras to make the Scream Factory “MOTEL HELL” Blu-ray/DVD combo!

One of the oddest early-’80s studio horror films (and the subject of one of Fango’s most popular covers) is coming home as MOTEL HELL sees Blu-ray/DVD release as part of the Scream Factory line. Read on for the full details!

Shout! Factory will issue MOTEL HELL in the disc combo pack August 12, presenting the black-comic chiller in a 1080p hi-def 1.85:1 transfer with DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo on the Blu-ray. Directed by British genre maven Kevin Connor, the film stars Rory Calhoun as Farmer Vincent and Nancy Parsons as his sister Ida, who sell popular smoked meats made with a very secret ingredient buried up in a garden out back. Special features include:

• New audio commentary with Connor, moderated by filmmaker Dave Parker
• New “It Takes All Kinds: The Making of MOTEL HELL” featuring interviews with Connor, producers/writers Robert Jaffe and Steven-Charles Jaffe and actor Marc Silver
• New “Shooting Old School” with cinematographer Thomas Del Ruth
• “Another Head on the Chopping Block”: Interview with actor Paul Linke
• “From Glamour to Gore”: Interview with actress Rosanne Katon
• “Ida, Be Thy Name”: A look back at MOTEL HELL’s frightful female protagonist Ida Smith
• Theatrical trailer

Retail price is $29.93; pre-order it at Shout!’s website, and you’ll get an exclusive 18×24” poster of the newly commissioned cover artwork while supplies last!
