Intriguing indies “STARRY EYES” and “LATE PHASES” get dated, new postersMovies/TV,News Michael Gingold
Horror fans seeking relief from cookie-cutter mainstream flicks now have two more off-the-beaten path independent chillers to add to the busy fall/winter 2014 viewing schedule, and new posters have been unveiled for both.
MPI revealed it will open STARRY EYES (pictured above) November 14 in theaters and on iTunes and VOD, and its subsidiary Dark Sky Films announced that it will unleash the werewolfilm LATE PHASES at New York City’s IFC Center a week later, November 21, with bookings in other cities to follow. In STARRY EYES, written and directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, a young, aspiring actress (played by Alex Essoe) will do anything to achieve stardom, which leads her into the darkest corners of the Hollywood underbelly. LATE PHASES, the English-language debut of COLD SWEAT and HERE COMES THE DEVIL director Adrián García Bogliano, stars STAKE LAND’s Nick Damici as a blind war veteran who arrives at a retirement home and discovers a series of animalistic killings taking place there. EW debuted the STARRY EYES poster seen below; see our review here and our first LATE PHASES set report here, and look for coverage of both movies in FANGORIA #338, on sale next month.
