IFC takes a trip to “GALLOWS HILL”Movies/TV,News Michael Gingold
It’s a big day for IFC Films news, with word coming down this morning that the company has picked up North American rights to the Colombia-lensed chiller GALLOWS HILL.
Screen Daily reported on the acquisition. Peter Facinelli, Sophia Myles, Nathalia Ramos and Carolina Guerra star in GALLOWS HILL, which follows a widower and his children as they embark on a vacation to their mother’s Colombian hometown. An accident strands them near a secluded inn, where they discover and free a girl locked in the basement, with frightening consequences. The film was directed by Victor Garcia, a former FX artist (on DAGON and HELLBOY, among others) who made a widely praised directorial debut on the short EL CICLO before being diverted into the direct-to-video sequel realm on the likes of RETURN TO HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, MIRRORS 2 and HELLRAISER: REVELATIONS; hopefully, he had more of a chance to show off his skills on this one. GALLOWS HILL was scripted by THE CALL’s Richard D’Ovidio, and the Colombia-financed movie was produced by Peter Block, David Higgins (who came up with the story) and Andrea Chung.
