IFC Midnight takes Zack Parker’s “PROXY”

Zack Parker’s psychothriller look at grief and obsession, PROXY, has been picked up for North American distribution out of the Toronto International Film Festival.

IFC Midnight, which specializes is independent and smaller genre film will release the film starring Alexia Rasmussen, Alexa Havins, Kristina Klebe and Joe Swanberg (YOU’RE NEXT, V/H/S). In PROXY, Rasmussen plays Esther, a pregnant woman brutally attacked. In the wake of this traumatic event, the quiet and lonely woman finds some consolation from kindly Melanie (Alexa Havins), whom she meets at a support group. At first, Esther’s life of sadness and solitude seems to be finally opening up to the possibility of a real friendship. That is, until a chance encounter makes it clear that nothing — and no one — in her life is as it appears.

Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films, said: “We were thrilled by the twists and turns of PROXY and we are even more thrilled to be bringing this shockingly powerful film to audiences through IFC Midnight. Zack Parker has crafted a truly unique experience and we are excited to be working with him.”
