Horror cares. The genre’s fan base knows devotion and support and I knew very soon after the terrible Boston Marathon bombings that both something horror-related and something hardcore-related would give aid. This past Monday saw the likes of heavy heroes Converge headline a This is Boston benefit show, and now hometown filmmaker and genre nut Adam Green, teamed with Rock and Shock  and Wicked Bird Media, has announced plans for three days worth of donating that culminates in a special sneak preview of the highly anticipated HATCHET III.

From Tuesday, May 28-Thursday, May 30, Green will host events that span the Boston area including a preview of HOLLISTON’s second season in Holliston, a party at the Palladium in Worcester and finally a HATCHET marathon that concludes with the first public screening of the Green written and produced and BJ McDonnell-directed HATCHET III.

Green says, “I live in Los Angeles these days, but Boston is still the place I consider home. I’ve never forgotten where I came from and always infuse my work with Massachusetts references, whether it be showcasing the Newbury Comics logo in theHatchet series, naming the fictitious ski mountain in Frozen ‘Mount “Holliston”’, or setting my sitcom “Holliston” in “Holliston”, MA. While I am just one guy, thankfully I have a body of work and a loyal and extremely passionate fan base within the horror community that I can call upon to step up and help. I think a lot of people underestimate not only the sense of community that genre fans share, but the fact that we are some of the most kind hearted and generous people you’ll ever meet. I know that the Boston chapters of the Hatchet Army and “Holliston” Nation will join me for this, not to mention my fans around the world that will hopefully donate to the cause online. However, the real heroes behind this are my friends at Rock and Shock and Wicked Bird Media who have worked tirelessly to make all of the arrangements, not to mention all of the various sponsors that are rising to the occasion to support all of this. I’m merely the face of an enormous heart and collective of individuals who want to help.”

    That Green’s got class.

shameless that Green is trying to market his weak films by using a real life tragedy as a reason to have a commercial for Hatchet. Everyone knows part one was garbage, two was worse, and three will continue in his tradition for weak unfunny unscary horror. Promoting skills don’t make up for lack of writing/directing skills even though you may think so Adam Green.
