“HIGH TENSION”/“MANIAC” scripter opens “THE PYRAMID” this winter

Grégory Levasseur, Alexandre Aja’s screenwriting partner in crime from the beginning, has made the jump into the director’s chair with a tale of Egyptian terror called THE PYRAMID, which has now been dated for U.S. release.

Box Office Mojo reveals that 20th Century Fox will release THE PYRAMID on December 5, 2014. Originally titled SITE 146, the movie was written by Daniel Meersand and Nick Simon, and stars Ashley Hinshaw, Denis O’Hare of TRUE BLOOD and AMERICAN HORROR STORY, James Buckley and Daniel Amerman. The synopsis goes like this: “A team of U.S. archaeologists unearths an ancient pyramid buried deep beneath the Egyptian desert. As they search the pyramid’s depths, they become hopelessly lost in its dark and endless catacombs. Searching for a way out, they become desperate to seek daylight again. They come to realize they aren’t just trapped, they are being hunted.” Levasseur wrote HIGH TENSION, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, MIRRORS and MANIAC, among others, with Aja, and was also a producer on MIRRORS, P2 and PIRANHA 3D.
