“HANNIBAL” Finds A Dolarhyde in “HOBBIT” Actor

Ever since showrunner Bryan Fuller made it clear that the third season of HANNIBAL would be pitting Will Graham against RED DRAGON baddie Francis “The Tooth Fairy” Dolarhyde, fans have been speculating who may fill the villains monumental shoes. After all, the character has been portrayed by some of the best character actors out there: Tom Noonan in Michael Mann’s MANHUNTER and Ralph Fiennes in Brett Ratner’s RED DRAGON. But luckily, HANNIBAL has found a worthy actor to take the reigns of the character and hopefully deliver a sinister performance not to be forgotten in THE HOBBIT actor Richard Armitage.

According to TVLine, Armitage will be joining the series for a six-episode run as Dolarhyde and is likely to be the central villain of the series for the latter half of the third season. Armitage joins HORNS actor Joe Anderson, who is replacing Michael Pitt as Mason Verger, as newcomers of the third season, with Gillian Anderson also being upgraded to a season three regular role. Armitage certainly has the build and the intensity to make for a memorable Dolarhyde, and Fuller’s twisted sensibilities are likely to bring the grimmer aspects of the character to life.

The question now remains: with all the mythology restructuring that HANNIBAL has gone through, what does The Tooth Fairy’s appearance mean for fan favorite Freddie Lounds? Keep an eye out here at FANGORIA.com for lots of HANNIBAL goodies to come…
