“HAIL TO THE DEADITES”! New “EVIL DEAD” documentary on the way

HAILTOTHEDEADITESFEAT

Sam Raimi’s THE EVIL DEAD and its sequels have amassed an army of followers, and their passion for the films is the subject of a new documentary that is seeking contributors.

HAIL TO THE DEADITES is being directed and produced by DiggerFilms’ Steve Villeneuve, who previously celebrated independent horror in UNDER THE SCARES. This time, he says, “The goal is to make a documentary about the fans with the fans. We think the Deadites are a big and strong family, and making this film will allow us to reach out to each other. As a fan, I want to know them and I want to meet them. I want to share my collection and discover theirs. This film is not just for collectors; it’s for all the EVIL DEAD fans in general who made this franchise a classic.”

To make it happen, Villeneuve (pictured above with Elise Holmes and the Ladies of THE EVIL DEAD at the Montreal Comiccon HorrorFest) has launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for HAIL TO THE DEADITES, offering perks ranging from posters, T-shirts and copies of the DVD to prints and prop reproductions signed by original EVIL DEAD FX creator Tom Sullivan, EVIL DEAD II co-star Danny Hicks and ARMY OF DARKNESS actress Patricia Tallman. “I have personally backed a dozen projects over the years, from feature films to short films,” Villeneuve says, “each time putting my shoulder to the wheel and giving what I could. Why am I doing this? Because I believe that, in 2013, this is the way to get the films you want to see. When I first decided to start this kind of campaign, I wanted it to be more then just a usual campaign. Badges, T-shirts, posters and DVDs are the usual way to go, and that’s fine…most of the time. But what else could I bring to the table? Something new, something exclusive… And at that moment, it hit me! I quickly sent an e-mail about the project to Tom Sullivan. Tom has agreed to become an associate producer on the project and to offer some perks. Things were looking good! And then suddenly, Danny Hicks did the same thing, and Patricia Tallman also jumped in.”
