God is Dead, “ROSEMARY’S BABY” Miniseries Lives

As televisions becomes the latest place for revamped visions of classic genre to thrive, the previously announced ROSEMARY’S BABY miniseries is officially a go.

Variety reports NBC has greenlit ROSEMARY’S BABY as a four-hour miniseries, to be directed by EUROPA EUROPA’s Agnieszka Holland. QUEEN OF THE DAMNED writer Scott Abbott was previously known to have been a part of the developing remake, but today’s news also reveals James Wong of FINAL DESTINATION, THE X-FILES and AMERICAN HORROR STORY will be co-writing the script.

Any gripes about remaking a perfect movie aside (and Roman Polanski’s is), the most curious thing in Variety’s report is their plot synopsis. The new location of Paris was another aspect already well understood, but the description also contains, “based on the 1967 Ira Levin novel about the problems that arise when a young married couple who move into a haunted Paris apartment.” Either a mistake’s been made, or there’s an entirely new wrinkle here.
