Full Trailer: Rose Leslie is (Not) Fine in “HONEYMOON”

A sunny, warm backdrop directly contrasts with the breakdown of a young marriage in Leigh Janiak’s eerie, intimate indie HONEYMOON. Magnet Releasing has unveiled the first trailer for the festival hit, which while showing quite a lot, also gives a good impression of the film’s build of harsh atmosphere.

In HONEYMOON, young newlyweds Paul (Harry Treadaway) and Bea (Rose Leslie) travel to remote lake country for their honeymoon, where the promise of private romance awaits them. Shortly after arriving, Paul finds Bea wandering and disoriented in the middle of the night. As she becomes more distant and her behavior increasingly peculiar, Paul begins to suspect something more sinister than sleepwalking took place in the woods.”

I quite liked HONEYMOON this past spring at SXSW. It’s an effective little chiller that prods at the mistrust and self-doubt present in any union. It’s also a great debut from newcomer Janiak.

HONEYMOON is in theaters and on demand from Magnet this September 12th. If you’re in Montreal, you can see the film tonight (July 22) when it screens as part of the currently running Fantasia Film Festival. For more, see our review here. [iTunes]
