From the FANGORIA Vault: “THEM!”

Well, fright fans, there’s no denying it: spring is here. April Showers are moistening the shallow graves surrounding the FANGORIA archives, and it’s drawing all sorts of creepy crawlies into our vault. While the occasional stinkbug is more than inconvenient, at least they’re relatively small, unlike the irradiated insects in the 1954 creature feature THEM!

One of the most notorious sci-fi films of its time, Gordon Douglas’s THEM! pit mankind against the apocalyptic uprising of gigantic ants, yet alluded subjects that were no laughing matter. The film worked as both an allegory for the ecological repercussions of war, coincidentally at the same time of its more famous Japanese brethren GODZILLA, as well as the trauma that enuses. Thrilling and with excellent, Academy-Award nominated special effects, THEM! was a surprise critical and commercial success. Luckily, we’ve unearthed some rare, high-quality shots from the FANGORIA Vault to share with you all. So stock up on some Raid and feast your eyes on these pictures from THEM!
