From the FANGORIA Vault: “THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2″

FANGOVAULTFEAT

Hello again, dearest fright fanatics! Welcome back to the FANGORIA vault, where we’re in the middle of some extensive spring cleaning. After all, if we don’t get the skeletons out of the cobwebs, who will? And as with all spring cleaning, you’re eventually going to find something valuable among the mountain of trash. This year is certainly no exception, as we happened upon a batch of incredibly awesome and rare stills from Tobe Hooper’s THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2!

Starring an eclectic cast that included Caroline Williams, Dennis Hopper, a returning Jim Siedow and recent FANGORIA coverboy Bill Moseley, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 reveals Hooper’s darkly comedic and cartoonish vision in response to the realistic and shocking first film. The film is a gory, fun and bizarre B-movie to end all B-movies, and with a budget that garnered the help of Tom Savini and production designer Cary White, feels much more sprawling than the contained and terrifying original. So get  ready to get down and dirty with these shots from THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2!

My favorite from the franchise, Great performances from the cast, some of Savini’s best make up work and Bill is legendary in this film. I watch this as least once a year.

I remember at the time when this sequel was relesead in Brazil and most of the critics here destroyed the movie. Happily I ignored their advices, and I enjoyed it very much! Sure, the first one is a masterpiece, however THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 was deliberately fun, and it deserves to be rediscovered…
