“FROM DUSK TILL DAWN” Series Adds Three
With many horror fans’ eyes glued to developments on FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES—the intended flagship program to Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming El Rey Network—three more potential vampire meals have joined the adaptation.
In addition to the previously announced Robert Patrick, D.J. Cotrona, Zane Holtz, Don Johnson, Jesse Garcia, Madison Davenport, Brandon Soo Hoo, Eliza Gonzalez and Wilmer Valderrama, actors Adrianne Palicki and Jake Busey will portray two characters created specifically for the show, while actor Lane Garrison will take over the role of Pete, the clerk from the original film previously inhabited by John Hawkes in the memorable opening scene.
Palicki, who appeared in this years G.I. JOE: RETALIATION and may be remembered from the action-horror hybrid LEGION, has signed on as Vanessa Styles, a woman from Seth Gecko’s past. Busey, a genre veteran in his own right with credits like STARSHIP TROOPERS, THE HITCHER II, THE FRIGHTENERS and IDENTITY to his name, has joined as Professor Aiden Tanner, an intellectual figure who is obsessed with the Mesoamerican mythology behind the vampires of the series.
FROM DUSK TIL DAWN: THE SERIES seems to be deviating from the mythology developed within the franchise’s feature sequels. As far as this writer is concerned, there’s still cautious optimism in my attitude towards the project, as there’s a lot of potential in the cast and premise. Besides, I’m still holding out to see who they bring in for Frost and Sex Machine before I make any foregone conclusions. [EW]
