First Trailer: Eli Roth’s Cannibal Film, “THE GREEN INFERNO”

It’s been awhile since we used my favorite promotional still of 2013, but rejoice: The first theatrical teaser for Eli Roth’s THE GREEN INFERNO has arrived.

THE GREEN INFERNO finds Roth filling the mold of the Italian Cannibal film with his own filmmaking personality, a blend of gore, juvenile humor and nihilistic worldview that really works well together. Out September 5th, THE GREEN INFERNO  follows a “group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save a tribe from extinction. In an unfortunate twist of fate, when the group arrives, they are taken hostage by the very tribe they sought to protect.”

As you may expect, some seriously nasty stuff gets underway. THE GREEN INFERNO is a ton of fun that’s not seeking to replicate the sort of harrowing nature of CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, but certainly delivers on the lineage of that and many other cannibal films’ gross legacy.
