First Poster, Trailer: “POLTERGEIST” (2015)

Yesterday, FANGORIA offered a first look at Gil Kenan’s POLTERGEIST remake, produced by Sam Raimi and with a stellar cast (including 2015 Chainsaw Nominee Jared Harris). From those images, this writer was a bit skeptical as how the film would be handling recreating the iconic moments from the original. But now that Universal Pictures has unleashed the first trailer and poster from the film, consider that skepticism rescinded.

I have to say, while heavy on the jump scares, there seems to be a definite attempt on the part of Kenan and Raimi to make an incredibly scary and immersive horror venture. While the original POLTERGEIST felt contained, the 2015 POLTERGEIST appears to explore a much bigger realm of haunting and fear. Even at a PG-13, this POLTERGEIST seems to hit just the right amount of creepiness to turn cautious optimism to excitement. You can check out the trailer and poster for POLTERGEIST below; the film hits theaters on July 24th.
