First photo, new comments: Henry Rollins in “HE NEVER DIED”Movies/TV,News Michael Gingold
We first reported here on a new crime/horror hybrid called HE NEVER DIED, and now we’ve got the first pic of star Henry Rollins from the movie (revealing a different look for the actor/musician), along with words from its creators.
HE NEVER DIED, which began shooting this week in Toronto, ”follows Jack [Rollins] in his battle with cannibalism and mental sobriety,” according to the official synopsis. “An exceptionally prolonged life has brought depression and detachment. Jack buys stolen blood from a hospital intern, plays bingo, sleeps 14 hours a day, watches television six hours a day, and lives alone. This is his life—he has shelled himself away from social interactions. The fuse is lit when Jack’s past comes back to rattle him. Jake must now walk a tight rope of sobriety and try to eat as few people as possible in this violent tale of personal responsibility and self worth. As it turns out, there are very few reasons to live when you can’t die.”
According to Rollins, who’s also executive-producing the film, “In November last year, I read the script for HE NEVER DIED. The next day I met director Jason Krawczyk and producer Zach Hagen and basically begged for the opportunity to be involved. It’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. As a character, Jack is perhaps far less than normal, which suits me very well. He’s not all that bad a guy, which is different. I don’t get many of those. He is in a very rare and strange situation and I really want to be part of the action.”
”We are hugely excited to be up and running on HE NEVER DIED with the incredible team we’ve been able to assemble,” says Adam Shully, another of the producers. That team includes co-stars Boo Boo Stewart, THE DARK HOURS’ Kate Greenhouse, Jordan Todosey and Steven Ogg, the latter coming off his success playing Trevor in the hit video game GRAND THEFT AUTO V. Hagen adds, “These first couple of days, watching Jason and Henry on their feet, have been unbelievable and the action has only just begun. Jason has written a genre-bending, tension-filled and action-packed story and Jack is a modern day crime-movie icon of mythological proportions. We have a huge shoot on our hands, there is a huge amount of action in this script—but from what I’ve seen so far, these guys are going to kill it.
