,

Psychological horror movies driven by female concerns have been a welcome trend this year, and it continues this fall with the DVD and VOD release of LYLE. Keep reading for the exclusive details and first look at the cover art.

Written and directed by feature first-timer Stewart Thorndike, LYLE is described as “a modern-day lesbian ode to ROSEMARY’S BABY,” and hits home formats September 29 from Breaking Glass Pictures. Gaby Hoffmann, the child actress from FIELD OF DREAMS, SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE and others who grew up to co-star on TV’s GIRLS and TRANSPARENT, stars. The synopsis: “Expecting couple Leah [Hoffmann] and June [Ingrid Jungermann] move into a Brooklyn brownstone apartment with their toddler daughter Lyle. Despite the strange baby-obsessed landlady downstairs and the group of female models who live above them, the two are happy with their new apartment until a bizarre accident leads to the death of Lyle. Months later, Leah is still grief-stricken, trying to make sense of Lyle’s death, her landlady’s odd behaviors and her attraction to one of the models upstairs. As Leah prepares for her home birth, she begins to suspect the neighbors are involved in a satanic pact and fears for her unborn baby.”

The DVD special features will include:

• Audio commentary by Thorndike
• Festival Q&As
• Extended scenes

VOD platforms carrying the movie will be iTunes, Amazon Instant, VUDU, Google Play, Xbox and cable broadcast VOD. See the trailer below the art and our interview with Thorndike on LYLE here, and visit the movie’s Facebook page.
