If celebrity culture seems like a plague now, wait till you see ANTIVIRAL, the feature writing/directing debut of Brandon Cronenberg that debuts tomorrow. The filmmaker sat down with Fango for an exclusive video interview you can watch below.

Caleb Landry Jones (from THE LAST EXORCISM and the upcoming BYZANTIUM) stars in ANTIVIRAL as Syd March, who works in a corporate lab where famous people’s illnesses are harvested and sold to obsessed fans who want to share the sicker sides of their idols’ lives. When Syd himself becomes infected by a fatal illness that has stricken superstar Hannah Geist (Sarah Gadon), he’s forced into a dark and dangerous quest to cure himself. ANTIVIRAL, which also stars Malcolm McDowell, opens in New York and hits VOD tomorrow, March 12 from IFC Midnight and then comes to Los Angeles April 19; in our chat, shot by Vivienne Vaughn, Cronenberg (son of horror legend David Cronenberg) discusses his inspirations and cast, the cult of celebrity and more…including a band called Ariel, which both he and a certain horror magazine’s current editor-in-chief once played for… (Thanks to Bill Hall)
